Craftsman LT2000 drive belt replacement

Changing the drive belt on a craftsman LT2000 lawn mower. Lessons learned: 1. You need to order the MTD brown OEM belt as I state in the beginning of this video. The aftermarket belts will make it difficult to shift and you won’t be able to stop with the brake. These aftermarket belts keep spinning even when the break is applied. I did this job twice because of the belt. 2. You don’t need to remove the large pulley under the battery. Just remove the spring tensioner which is attached to the smaller pulley bracket forward of the large pulley. The tensioner spring attaches to the frame and can be removed from the frame with needle nose players/vice grips/spring hook puller tool. 3. The pulley assembly in the center of the mover doesn’t have to be removed. You can take off the one pulley that is toward the rear of the assembly to get the belt off. It’s not easy to get back on because you can’t see anything to line it up and just have to slowly move the bracket around until the both catches in the hole and can be threaded in.
