📝 Find notes here: https://www.nonstopneuron.com/post/mu... 🌐 Explore our entire animation video library at: https://www.nonstopneuron.com/ Video Summary: The muscle spindle is a sensory organ to sense the length of the muscle. It is made up of intrafusal fibers which are of two types: nuclear bag fibers and nuclear chain fibers. Their mid-portion is sensory and is innervated primarily by type Ia fiber. The ends are contractile and are innervated by gamma motor neurons. Upon sudden stretching of the muscle, the spindle sends a signal to the spinal cord. Here the sensory neuron directly stimulates the α motor neuron resulting in reflex contraction of the same muscle. This stretch reflex prevents sudden changes in muscle length. 📽 More videos on Musculoskeletal System: • Neuromuscular Junction & Transmission: • Neuromuscular Junction Structure & Ne... • Physiological Anatomy of Skeletal Muscles: • Structure of a Skeletal Muscle Fiber ... • Excitation Contraction Coupling & Muscle Contraction: • AWARD WINNING Animation Explaining Ex... • Muscle Spindle & Stretch Reflex: • Muscle Spindle & Stretch Reflex || Kn... • Αlpha-Gamma Coactivation: • Αlpha Gamma Coactivation || Importanc... • Pathophysiology of Myasthenia Gravis: • Pathophysiology of Myasthenia Gravis • Treatment of Myasthenia Gravis: • Treatment of Myasthenia Gravis ● Follow me at: • Instagram: / nonstopneuron • Facebook: / nonstopneuron Chapters 00:00 Intro 00:15 Extrafusal vs Intrafusal Fibers 00:32 Muscle Spindle 01:15 Intrafusal Fibers 02:45 Nerve Supply 04:41 Stretch Reflex 06:31 Reciprocal Innervation 08:14 Summary Dr Vipul Navadiya DISCLAIMER: This video is for education purposes only.
