Goal Auzeen Saedi, Ph. D, has received numerous awards for her work in psychology and has been featured in several media outlets, including Elle Magazine (Canada), and the Dallas Morning News. She has served as a business consultant for a firm working with Fortune 500 companies and currently teaches courses at Stanford University for their Peer Bridge Program. Dr. Saedi is dedicated to empowering those whose voices are too often left unheard and serves as an advocate for social justice issues in mental health and beyond. Much of her writing, as seen in her blog, the Millennial Media, focuses on critical analyses of the media, and recognizing ways in which it can be harmful, but also educational. Dr. Saedi is particularly interested in women's issues, and how society and the media promulgate messages that are often disempowering and anti-feminist. Through her TEDx talk, she hopes to combine this passion with her research background in multicultural issues to speak about exotic beauty and the numerous ways the media objectifies and devalues women.
