Running through the latest big Prado news update, including the five models, prices and specs plus issues arising with the hybrid for Australia. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 250 Series is almost ready to launch in Australia and Toyota has now given us pricing and most specifications for each grade. We still haven't seen the Australia-spec GX, GXL or VX models but we have photos of the local-spec Altitude and Kakadu grades. Engine-wise it is a 2.8-litre 48-volt diesel four-cylinder for Australia with the same old 150kW of power or 201 horsepower. Other markets do get a 2.4-litre turbo petrol hybrid (the i-Force Max) but numerous problems are making that engine look pretty uncertain for Australia - it tows less and doesn't save much fuel, which does not help Toyota reduce its overall CO2 emissions (important in Australia from 2025).
