Have you ever found a piece of quartz with visible gold and wondered how much gold was actually in the piece? We all know that gold specimens are much more valuable than free mill gold. So crushing a piece to find the weight of gold is a big no no! This video shows the mathematics behind finding the weight of gold based on the Archimedes’ Principle while keeping the beautiful specimen in tact. This testing although very accurate does not take in account for the other minerals and metals that would also be found in a gold in quartz specimen. These include iron, silver, copper and others.
