Quote from part 1 filmed on 29th March: "I may do an afternoon session some other time". This is it - Friday 13th. Same venue - Cambridge Street, opposite Milson depot. Good day for it with reasonably good lighting all afternoon. Sun was behind me. Not a lot of wind. I wasted quite a bit of my battery trying to second-guess arrivals from the north. Consequently I ran it down before the wood products train 251 came down on the main line (2 x DFT - 7307/7145). In fact it discharged completely just before the final disappearance of 220 under the Milson bridge. Quite apart from the panning which can never be any good with a friction-head tripod there may be a few minor wobbles. If so this is because I had to mount the tripod on a large pile of semi-compacted cut grass - not the most stable of platforms. The same applies to part 1. Some of the men working in the yard will doubtless be able to recognise themselves Trains filmed: 1. 628 Palmerston North to Napier freight. DX5016. 13:05 pm. 2. 665 Oringi to Palmerston North milk. DC4156 with 14 OM wagons - big train for a DC. 14:30 pm. 3. 544 Palmerston North to Whareroa milk. DX5264 & DX5120 with 16 OM wagons. 14:50 pm. 4. 220 Wellington to Auckland freight. 30105. 15:50 pm. As well as the trains there are a number of light engine movements, light engine towings, yard shunting activities - both with the shunters and main line locos, and the odd semi-still. Others recorded on the depot: DSC2340, DSC2746 towing 30007 & 30105 (depot shunting activity). DSG3005, DSG3074 (yard shunting activity). 30013, 30163 (stationary outside electric traction depot), 30007 (probably arrived earlier on 221 with 30105). DX5108 (stationary and awaiting its next duty). DFT7241 (arrived with 220 from Wellington. Filmed shunting 1 wagon). DC4283 (Marton shunt locomotive which left light around 15:35 pm. Filmed stationary at the start)
