In this review, I'm going to take a look at another beer from the Old Thunder Brewing Company, and it's their Scottish Winds, the 2023 release. This is a Scotch Ale that is aged in bourbon barrels. It's actually more of a blended barrel aged beer, as It's aged for 21 months in Woodford Reserve Masters Collection, Wild Turkey and Buzzards Roost barrels. I've loved the handful of beers that I've tried from Old Thunder, and this sounds delicious! Let's see how it is! Also, huge thanks to Rob and Josh from Old Thunder for this one! They gave me this bottle back in June after the 2024 Rochester Real Beer Expo at Innovative Field in downtown Rochester, NY. Commercial Description: A strong Scottish-style Ale, aged in a blend of bourbon barrels (Woodford Reserve Masters Collection, Wild Turkey, and Buzzards Roost) for 21 months. Expect smooth notes of toasted coconut, chocolate covered raisins, roasted almonds, molasses, and fine old whiskey.
