Two days before Australian cyclist and one of my closest mates, Ben O'Connor flew off to his first Tour de France, we went for a training ride in Andorra. Little did we know at the time of filming, Ben would go on to win a stage of the 2021 Tour, and then finish 4th overall... He's the highest placed Australian ever on debut at the Tour, and only two other Australians have finished higher than him on GC - Cadel Evans who won in 2011 and Richie Porte who was on the podium in 2020. It's an incredible achievement for someone who I have so much admiration for. A dream come true.
