Kandersteg is a small town in the heart of the Berner Oberland region in Switzerland, easily accessible by train or car. I recommend you take the cable car instead of walking to the lake - you will save at least 1-2 hours each way and the hike is really steep. Round-trip gondola ticket: CHF 30 for adults and CHF 15 for children over 6 years old.
