By folding the broken element halves over each other them crimping them togeather you give the current a path to follow and generate heat again. Down side. . . the crimped part gets hotter then the carben element was designed for and im pritty sure it wont last long. Nun the less if you need your stove working and cant get a replacement right away this method might help you get a little more time out of the old one.
