Join Phoebe, Luna, and Wayne as they take a relaxing walk around Summerleaze Downs. During Victorian times, Crooklets Beach was designated for women, while Summerleaze Beach was reserved for men. They stroll around Bude Cricket Ground, follow the footpath to Summerleaze Beach, passing Middle Beach and Bude Sea Pool, where swimmers are raising money by swimming the equivalent of the channel to France 🇫🇷. The next day (Sunday), they’ll be completing the “return journey” back to England . If you’d like to donate to Bude Sea Pool, please visit their website. We also pass Barrel Rock, Tommy’s Pit on the breakwater, the new location of the Storm Tower (Compass Point 🧭), and Efford Cottage. Then, we head to the memorial for the 2nd Rangers, based in Bude during WWII, and visit the flagpole of the Bude Ketch Elizabeth, wrecked on Summerleaze Beach in 1912.
