Kwik-E-Mart owner Apu Nahasapeemapetilon might be axed from The Simpsons following a backlash against alleged racial stereotyping. Producer and comedian Adi Shankar, who does not work on The Simpsons, said three people connected to the show told him Apu would be axed. However, one of The Simpsons' original writers has said a producer who claimed Indian character Apu was to be dropped "does not speak for our show".
