The trio attended the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London where the princess and her father, the Duke of York, officially opened the new Stanmore Building. The occasion no doubt held a special significance for Eugenie, who is a patron of the hospital, as she underwent an operation there to correct scoliosis - curvature of the spine - when she was just 12 years old. The Princess of York appeared to be delighted when she was reunited with one of the nurses who cared for her during her time at the hospital.
