Debugging My Walther P-22 Jam-a-matic 12-10-2022
My 1st generation Walther P-22 had been banished to a shelf in my safe frustrated not being able to get through a single 10-round factory magazine without a jam. That was nearly 20 years ago with my then teenage son. I recently field stripped and lubed the pistol to take my grandson shooting whereupon the pistol proved once again just as unreliable as I had remembered it. So this past weekend with two brand-spanking new Walther magazines and three different brands of ammo I marched off to the range solo to debug the issues with this otherwise handy little pistol. Surprisingly this day my original blued factory magazine ran flawlessly. In contrast, the two new Walther stainless mags were ammo dependent, hiccuping on the Winchester USA Target loads but showing themselves somewhat more reliable with the hotter CCI Velociter and Stinger ammo.
