Suzuki Boulevard S40 Motorcycle Cam Chain Tensioner Check @ 10K+ Miles After buying the bike last year with about 5.5K miles, I learned about the tensioner issue and the potential catastrophic results of it failing. It fails by simply coming apart and causing internal damage. Removing the (right) engine side cover is straightforward and requires only common hand tools. If your Savage/S40/LS650 is nearing 10K miles, I strongly recommend taking a look. Keep in mind, I ride very conservatively AND the previous owner was 70. Mine looks to be 1/2 to maybe 2/3 extended. Although I'm probably okay for the rest of the season, I've ordered a modified tensioner from a member on the Suzuki Savage forum.
