2008 Evinrude Etec H.O. 150 Review and Advice for Future Owners

NOTE: I have started running XD100 oil after I made this video. The Evinrude oil is more expensive, but this engine runs much better and will have much less issues when running the Evinrude XD100. Also Note: These are my personal experiences. Talk to your local mechanic before making any changes to your motor including oil, gas, etc. In this video, I share my personal experience and review of the 2008 Evinrude ETEC HO 150. I share some pros and cons of the motor and some advice for future owners or anyone that is debating purchasing a used bass boat with this motor on it. If there is anything that I left out please let me know and I will happily include it. Things I did not mention in the video. The Evinrude H.O. (High Output) series is basically 25hp more than they advertise it as. The 150 H.O. is actually a 175. A 175 H.O. is actually a 200hp and so on. With the H.O. series, they used the next size up engine block, and classified it as a lower horsepower. I have been from South Carolina all the way to Lake Erie and the ST. Lawrence River and this motor has never left me stranded. I have hit a sand bar and overheated the motor and it shut off before I could inflict any damage to the motor. This motor is packed with a ton of technology that helps to prevent you from being able to cause any damage to the motor. That being said, it can be choosy about what gas and oil it prefers. Make sure you talk to your mechanic to see which oil it is programmed to run (XD50 or XD100) If you enjoyed this vide, please SUBSCRIBE!
