How to Measure your Horse Mini or Donkey for a GreenGuard Muzzle 2024 What Size Do I Need?

Horse, Pony, and Mini are too broad of terms. They can really mean anything. Even our old bit-size measurements were sometimes inaccurate. For 2024 and beyond, we've developed a new system that should get your horse, minis, and even donkeys a little bit closer to the most precise fit when it comes to a GreenGuard Grazing Muzzle. The new sizing system is based on a combination of two measurements: 1) Nose circumference: the full distance around your horse's muzzle from the very tip of their chin to the very top of their nostrils and 2) Bit size: the distance from one corner of your horse's mouth to the other, plus half an inch. You can get both of these measurements with very simple tools: a cloth measuring tape, or a piece of baling twine and a ruler. You might even use a dowel rod trying to calculate bit size; whatever you use, make sure your horse is okay to bite down on it without causing them pain or physical inconvenience.
