Creativity in healthcare: challenges and opportunities | Matthew Roberts | TEDxCardiffUniversity

Can creativity play a role in changing healthcare for the better? Matthew explores how embedding creativity into daily practice might just be the answer. Matthew Roberts is a second year postgraduate Occupational Therapy student from Cardiff University. After completing an undergraduate degree in History at York University he found himself drawn to working with children in a health and social care environment. He has since spent the past 5 years working with people of all ages with a variety of physical, developmental and mental health diagnoses. He has a passion for empowering people to take control over their lives and was drawn into Occupational Therapy by its holistic ethos and varied practice environments. Occupational Therapy is a healthcare discipline heavily reliant on creativity, and his talk will illustrate the importance of creativity in contemporary practice where "evidence" is all important.
