Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cades Cove Campground, & Scenic Loop

Great Smoky Mountains National Park Cade Cove Campground, & Scenic Loop To get to the Cades Cove Campground, we went in through Townsend, one of the three gateways to the park. We encourage those who are planning to visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, to go in, find and set up your campsite, and then explore unencumbered by your RV. The roads in the park sometimes have a shoulder, and sometimes they don't. Before you are allowed to camp in this national park, you have to sign that you've read the bear etiquette. It's wise to remember that the bears are wild animals that can hurt or kill you; consequently, the rangers want to be certain that everything possible is done to keep them out of camping areas. Three camping areas are in Cades Cove. The only camping in the park is dry camping. In Loop A all of the campsites are ADA accessible. Loop B allows generators. In Loop B you are allowed to use generators. Loop C does not allow generators. The dump station in Cades Cove accommodates three RVs at a time. A 12 mile, one way scenic loop is in Cades Cove. The loop is where you are most likely to see bear. We were fortunate to see bear each of the four nights we were at Cades Cove. A bonus is that we saw three bear cubs with a momma bear. All along the loop you will find turnoffs where houses or churches were or where you can see a slice of life from previous centuries.
