Incidents of violence were reported from several districts on Friday morning as BJP has called for a 12-hour bandh. The BJP took out several rallies from different areas of Cooch Behar. The BJP workers clashed with the police when the latter tried to stop their rally. The police detained 20 of them. The BJP announced a 12-hour bandh in north Bengal on Friday, April 28 in order to protest against the ‘atrocities on a tribal community.’ This call for strike comes in the backdrop of a minor girl’s death at Kaliaganj in Uttar Dinajpur district last week. Several incidents of violence have been reported since then. The ruling TMC reacted to the strike call by BJP. The TMC has accused the BJP of trying to disturb the peace in the state.
