To help hospitals across the United States be better prepared for the next patient surge emergency, UC Davis Health in collaboration with the US Department of Defense has created a model for a Modular Surge Facility (MSF) or temporary structure erected at a time of crisis to respond to a public health emergency. The project, titled "Improving Modular Patient Admission Capacity Through Scalable Solutions" or "IMPACTS," is a pilot program in partnership with the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) and the Defense Health Agency. It was funded through a grant from the Department of Defense.
