I had the pleasure of interviewing Virgil Abloh in May of 2021 via zoom, where we discussed everything from his roots in music to overground vs. underground to the importance of telling our stories. I never in a million years thought that just a few months later, Virgil would no longer be with us. Life is precious and so are our stories. I'm honored that I was able to document such a huge piece of modern Black History. Thank you for everything. #VIRGILFOREVER "It seems like Virgil Abloh has a hand in just about everything. From his roles as Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton Menswear and CEO of his brand Off-White to architecture, to design, to DJing and production, Abloh is on a tireless quest to put his stamp on how the modern world looks and sounds. Born in Rockford, Illinois to Ghanian immigrant parents, Virgil grew up a music lover, listening to his father's jazz records and the likes of Fela Kuti. DJing by his teenage years, he became the kid who hauled his parent's equipment out to play all the parties. Over 20 years later, he's still incredibly zealous about music, which like fashion, has taken him across the globe. With a new single out featuring Serpentwithfeet and a remix from Omar-S, as well as a recently announced radio residency on Giles Peterson's Worldwide FM, Virgil continues to pursue music and fashion with equal avidity." *This interview was originally recorded for Resident Advisor's "Exchange" series*
