Why The Fire Nation was Destined to Rule (Avatar: The Last Airbender) When watching Avatar: The Last Airbender (not that blue people movie) you might have noticed something. The fire nation seems to be so much stronger than every other country, and their world domination seemed destined. But besides their mentality and militarism, the fire nation was destined to dominate the planet because of their innate abilities. Sure, the fire nation in avatar was more technologically advanced than the other nations, but that wasn't by accident. Firebneding naturally lends itself to faster technological development, because of their natural ability to refine metal; an ability that propelled civilizations like the Roman Empire to prominence in the real world. But even more than that, as master Jeong Jeong taught us, fire is naturally more powerful than earth, water, and air for its ability to spread beyond the bender's control. An individual fire bender had the potential to burn down an entire city. And we saw by the time of Legends of Korra, metal bending made for a much more even balance of power throughout the world, but still the most powerful force was the one who most successfully mastered metal bending.
