A few months ago, I travelled to Bangkok, the Philippines, and Bali with my wife. Something that really touched me during this trip was the similarities between the people there and the people back in my home country, Cuba. Getting to know all these people, even briefly, made me really think about the kind of story I wanted to tell. I knew I wanted to make a film about these encounters, but I didn’t want to make a vlog-style or doc-style video. I really wanted to use the concept of visual storytelling. Then the idea came to my mind to use music to express my emotional state throughout each stage of this trip. Music offered me a way to bridge the stunning visual scenes of Southeast Asia with my own intense feelings of newness and nostalgia in each place that we visited.
