Catalina Island, California is home to the beautiful Catalina Island Trail stretching for almost 40 miles from Avalon to the northern tip of the island, often being hiked in four days. While I hope to someday do the full trail, we did the northern half of it - a usually two day hike - in one long day. Starting in the morning from Two Harbors at the Isthmus of the island, where Emma and I spent a week camping, we walked to the windward side of the island to Cat Harbor, then north beyond Torquemada and up to Silver Peak. I'd climbed Silver Peak before and knew the view would be well worth filming, but when we got up there, we found out that the mountain was closed! Come along on this hike with us, ascending mountains and traversing beaches on this beautiful desert island, uncovering history and finding stunning views along the way.
