Steeped in memories, recipes and familial history, writer and cultural historian Tarana Husain Khan and writer and historian Rana Safvi take us on a delectable journey through the rich cultural and social traditions of Awadhi and Rampur cuisines and the ways in which it has transformed with time. Tarana Husain Khan is a writer and food historian. She is the author of critically acclaimed books, Degh to Dastarkhwan: Qissas and Recipes from Rampur which explores Rampur’s culinary history, and a historical fiction The Begum and the Dastan. She is currently working on an Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project to revive heirloom recipes and rice varieties. She has co-edited and contributed to the recently published anthology Forgotten Foods: Memories and Recipes from Muslim South Asia. Rana Safvi is deeply committed to India's rich cultural heritage and diverse civilisational legacy. Her multifaceted contributions encompass history, literature, cultural preservation, and exploration of culinary heritage. She has authored ten books that delve into topics ranging from culture and history to the monuments of India, including Tales from the Quran and Hadith, The Delhi Trilogy: Where Stones Speak, Shahjahanabad: The Living City of Old Delhi and In Search of The Divine: Living Histories of Sufism in India.
