Hey folks! Regardless of where you hike, how long of a hike you're going for, or even what season you're hiking in, having access to and drinking enough water is key to not only making it thru your hike, but to ensure you're not dehydrating yourself and putting yourself at risk of kidney failure. The Sawyer min is my second water filter I used and still use, for hiking and backpacking. The first was a Coghlan's pump-action filter that I picked up at a surplus store. Unfortunately, after I got really sick on my first outing on the Bruce Trail did I realize the Coghlan's only filters down to about .4 micros...Guardia parasites can fit through that filter size. Whether or not it was this that caused my illness, I'm still not certain, but I can tell you that I've never had an issue once I switched to the Sawyer! Be safe out there!!
