Bihar Parv Chhath छठ Puja, Day 2 - खरना | गुड़ वाली खीर + रोटी + चिनिया केला l Gaon wala Orchestra

On the auspicious second day of Chhath Puja, known as Kharna, we delved into the sacred rituals at the home of Savita Jaisawal ji in Bihar. This day holds great significance as the kharna prasad serves as the final meal for female devotees observing the puja before embarking on an extensive fast. Early in the morning we accompanied Savita ji's son, Vaibhav, to the flour mill to grind fresh wheat flour for the Kharna roti and the following days thekua. Alongside, we picked up fruits, bamboo baskets, a winnow, and a clay oven essential for the two-day cooking and puja rituals. Returning home, after freshening up, we joined Savita ji in preparing the Kharna roti and jaggery kheer. As she joyfully prepared the roti and simmered the kheer, she shared insights into the revered rituals and traditions associated with the puja. By evening, the preparations were almost complete. Savita ji readied herself to offer the bhog (prasad) to the Almighty, a symbolic gesture before partaking in her last meal prior to the nearly 36 hours of rigorous fasting. Following the prasad and seeking divine blessings, we ventured out to a village where a religious musical program was in full swing. The vibrant festive atmosphere filled with bhajans and a gathering of devotees added to the spirit of Chhath Puja's celebrations.
