A business class experience with British Airways CityFlyer for a short 45 minute flight across the North Sea. Unfortunately, I was greeted with drama upon arrival to London City Airport with everyone being told that all British Airways flights were cancelled. Queues for check in were for flight rebookings. With the flight information board not corresponding with the information of the airport staff, people were asking questions and the positive response soon answered when it was confirmed that the Amsterdam and Dusseldorf flights would still go ahead as planned. The flight departed about 20 minutes behind schedule but I was more happy with the fact that the flight still went ahead. After a rocket like departure from City Runway 27, we climbed gradually up to 21,000ft before very soon after beginning descent into Amsterdam. During this time, the crew served us breakfast and drinks, it was a very comfortable experience. Low visibility procedures were enforced for landing into Schiphol runway 18R with a cloud base little over 300ft. The taxi to the airport terminal was possibly one of the longest parts of the flight, it seemed to have kept going for ages! ---------- BA8497 / CFE26N London City Airport to Amsterdam Schiphol EGLC/LCY - EHAM/AMS Embraer ERJ-170STD Seat 3D 2x GE CF34-8E5 Flight Time- 1 hour Departure Time- Scheduled 08:00AM (Actual 08:20AM) Arrival Time- 10:05AM +1 hour Departure Runway- 27 Arrival Runway- 18R (Polderbaan) ------------- The reason for the cancellations were not clear but it was likely due to the weather conditions earlier that morning and the captain explained that there were a reduced rate of arrivals into Schiphol because of the weather.
