At Risk | Psoriatic Arthritis: An Unwanted Partnership | MedscapeTV

Full Series Here: https://wb.md/2TBujxt Once considered a rare, even benign condition, psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is the most common coexisting condition associated with psoriasis and develops in up to 30% of patients with the autoimmune disorder. On average, PsA appears 10 years after onset of psoriasis, but some patients will have the conditions diagnosed simultaneously, and in as many as 15%-20% of patients, arthritis precedes psoriasis. Because of its diverse clinical features, diagnosis of early-stage PsA, when appropriate therapy is recommended, can prove difficult. Unrecognized and untreated, PsA can often lead to a diminished quality of life and impairment. PsA also increases the risk for serious comorbid conditions, including cardiovascular disease. Experts in rheumatology and dermatology at the University of Toronto discuss strategies for evaluation and early diagnosis of PsA, review the complex differential diagnosis, and report on current therapeutic options.
