Shredding the Desert on a 2019 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R (Part 1 of 2)

Watch as I shred the desert West of Tucson on my 2019 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. This is a combination of dirt roads, SxS/ATV trails, and some single track that I make into a 30 mile loop with 57 minutes of video. There’s loose gravel hard-pack, sand, rocky uphill/downhill, g-outs, wash crossings, and high-speed sections that are gnarly enough to really test your chops on a big ADV bike! Part 1 gives you a feel for a typical desert off-road ADV ride with some great exhaust sounds from the 1290 SAR. I find some mud from recent rains and come up on some free range cattle. I get after it on a big sand section and a long rocky ATV trail. Part 1 Highlights 0:00 Starting at Mile Wide Road gate and finding some mud. Flat and wide open. Rains make this section muddy. 2:50 Long sand section with lots of cross ruts. Sand can be 4-12 inches deep along this section and rains will create cross-ruts or g-outs. At 5:42 juicin' it and lifting the front end over some sand whoops at about 35-40mph! 6:15 West Cocorague Ranch Road. Starting to find some rocks. 8:40 Slicing up the path headed towards El Cerrito de Gallinas. Long flowy and fast section on hard pack with some loose rocks. At 10:40 I go off the trail at about 30mph from a mis-read coming out of a wash crossing...thought the trail went right but it did not! 13:50 Heading West into the Roskruge Mountain. Trail starts to get a little tighter and has more rocky wash crossings. You can see the Roskruge Mountains in the background with monsoon storm clouds overhead. 20:30 Riding deeper into the Roskruge Mountains. Starts to get even tighter and rockier. There’s usually wildlife back here but I didn’t see anything on this ride. At 21:39 I get a little loosey goosey with the throttle but save it.
