DJ Brockie & MC Det | Jungle Hardcore Classics 1993 | Kool FM 94.5

Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. In 1993, two years after Kool FM was established, in London, the DJ & MC duo forged a long lasting partnership that still exists until this day. Brockie & Det became the most talked about partnership on the FM dial particularly throughout the whole of 90s. With Respect to them, it still uttered by many. Not many partnerships lasted the test of time, but theirs did. This was the beginning of the Jungle music sound coming straight out of London city, when Jungle began to crossover from its Hardcore roots. DJ Brockie's sets always featured the most exclusive and unreleased dub plates of that time. Other DJs would listen keenly with jealousy and envy only wishing of getting those tracks. That tradition of playing unreleased tracks is still present in the Drum & Bass scene today. The fact being DJ Brockie cut dub plates every week at Music House, in Holloway Road. One could imagine how many of them he has at home, we are taking about thousands. MC Det had recently joined Kool FM and was a new budding star. He was a great host which came from the MC tradition typically adopted from school of Hardcore, but he was adapting a new style of MCing and slowly began to incorporate the double time style. Check out the channel for more recordings of Brockie and Det over the years on people's beloved pirate radio, Kool FM 94.5. Out to all the ravers that remember the hype around Brockie and Det's midnight sets, too many nights to mention from Jungle Fever, Roast, One Nation and many other top rave nights in London. Lastly, we would like add a big note of importance. Out to all the underground and commercial artists in London and UK who have failed to mention the impact of these guys on their musical influences. So much talk about the US and Jamaica when we know all the Grime and Dubstep artists/performers listened to their shows on Kool FM and blew whistles and horns to them on sets in the raves in 90s and early 2000s. Enough said. Brockie and Det are legends in their own right.
