OVERVIEW. We’ve all heard the myths about work and social security benefits, but the truth is that there are work incentives that are designed to support a beneficiary’s effort to obtain, retain, and enhance employment. This presentation will provide an overview of how work impacts SSDI, SSI, Medicaid & Medicare, and the work incentives that encourage financial independence. The participants will learn about Social Security disability benefits and associated healthcare programs (Medicare and Medicaid). They will learn about the impact of employment on Social Security disability benefits and associated healthcare programs. BIO. Alexandra (Sandy) Needler, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Texas Rehabilitation Employment Manager, Community Partner Work Incentive Counselor. Sandy Needler is the Rehabilitation Employment Manager for UnitedHealthcare’s Community Plan of Texas. In her role at UHC, Sandy advocates for employment for individuals with disabilities in the community, supports members with disabilities in navigating the journey to employment, and is actively involved in the UnitedHealtcare’s disability hiring and retention initiatives.
