'A' Band plays 'The Kingdom Builders' (Martin Cordner): Canada & Bermuda TMS 2024

Canada & Bermuda Territorial Music School 2024: The 'A' Band plays 'The Kingdom Builders' by Martin Cordner (Conductor: Martin Cordner) Friday 30th August 2024. Footage courtesy of The Salvation Army's Music and Arts Ministries Department, Toronto. This work was commissioned by Bandmaster Jonathan Evans for the Sale Band of The Salvation Army. It is inspired by the prayer diary of former Lt-Col. Valerie Yvonne Jones, who, along with her husband, was the Corps Officer at Sale in the late 1980s. During that time the Corps was looking for a new building. Finally, in April 1988, the Lord revealed to Major Jones that a plot of land that had become available “… will be Kingdom-building land.” Not too long afterwards the SA was able to purchase the land and building work began. The work opens with a bright, hopeful introduction which is characteristic of the optimistic faith of Col. Jones in her diary entries, and of the Corps as it put itself into God’s hands for its future. It then moves into three movements: I: KINGDOM PROMISE (Amos 9:15a GNT) Prayer Diary April 1988 "Ashton Lane will be Kingdom-building land" Features the chorus ‘For I’m Building a People of Power’. II: KINGDOM GROWTH (Colossians 3:24a GNT) Prayer Diary June 1989 "Your Kingdom will grow. Men and women will seek and find You." Features the song ‘Abide with Me’. III: KINGDOM COURAGE (Exodus 33:14-15 GNT) Prayer Diary November 1991 "At all times I will be full of courage" Features the song ‘Lord, if your Presence’.
