Spearfishing California : Pebble Beach

2021 Spearfishing and freediving at Pebble Beach California. Visibility was not that great, but ok for diving. (Gear) The last dive was 2018 or so. So, the plan was freediving around 20 feet and spearfishing with a short speargun and a 50ft float rope carrying the stringer. (Freediving) Ocean was calm and nice. Team (Jack, Daniel, Alex, GP, Ton) decided to go to the 30+ feet spot we usually go with kayak. The spot was surrounded by giant kelps helping to stay away from GWS. Luckily, my body remembered what to do for 30+ feet freediving. In the first dive, I touched down the 35 feet bottom without carrying the speargun. I enjoyed freediving multiple times. (Spearfishing) I also enjoyed spearfishing and got 10 rockfish limit. After catching 4 rockfish like China and Black&Yellow that live around the rock (=need to touch bottom and check each hole), caught Black and Olive rockfish that swim around the kelp (=no need to touch bottom). No lingcod today. (Mistake) I forgot to close (secure) the stringer while swiming through the kelps. Lost the last 5 rockfish. But, happy to have 5 bottom rockfish. (New team) On the way to back to the beach, Daniel and I met Matt and his son. Since 2-hour diving was too short to me, decided to dive more with Matt. At the second spot with them, I got 2 more Black&Yellow rockfish (my favorite for sashimi). In the last shallow (and dirty) spot, we checked a few big holes. Matt found a 30+ lingcod, but no luck. Want to go diving again. Hopefully with fishing rod.
