Viewer's Fave: Anand Seafood Restaurant @ Anjuna, North Goa

Superb Goan food. Excellent, real goat mutton. And a lovely location beside green fields. We are grateful to our viewer who recommended we visit Anjuna’s Anand Seafood Restaurant. Anand Seafood Restaurant Contact: +918237998363 Timings: 12 to 4.30 pm; 6.30 to 11 pm, Mondays CLOSED Thalis available only at lunchtime Google Maps location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/c3WAQu6nyMjMg... Anand Seafood is one minute’s drive from St Michael's Church in Boutavaddo, Anjuna, between Anjuna and Assagao in Bardez, North Goa. From the church, follow the Chapora road and drive till this small circle crowded with restaurants and dhabas. Maka Zai restaurant, is a well known landmark here. Turn right here onto the Aguada-Siolim Road, towards Badem, Assagao. Anand Seafood Restaurant is less than half a kilometre down this road. Anand has an indoors section, and an air conditioned room too. But with the weather being fine, our gang has chosen to sit in the open air section at back. In fact, they have grabbed a lovely table looking out onto the fields of Boutavaddo, which are a gorgeous green during this monsoon season. In case you missed the emphasis on seafood in the name of this restaurant, the decor all around you at Anand Seafood underscores its main offering, from the windows to the art installations on the floor and on the walls, all of which celebrate Goa’s ramponkars (fisherfolk), their lifestyle and their produce. The trash management here could do with some improvement, though. One of our viewers, Amit Bhayani, recommended we visit this restaurant and it turned out to be a great recommendation. You can immediately tell that the food is going to be great because the waiters have that air of those who know their food is very good and popular, so take it or leave it Right on top of the list of the day’s catch is one of my favourite fish, the creamy tamso (tamoshi/red snapper). Today, we’ll have tamso butter garlic (Rs 410), Goan fish (Rs 160) and veg thalis (Rs 110), and we’ll also try the mutton sukka (Rs 360) in our eternal quest for good mutton in Goa. Quite soon after ordering, our food begins to arrive, to Jaya’s relief. Goan veg thali: dal, chonnem, beans bhaji, salad, this is the nal kari (sol kari with coconut milk), pickle, rice, papad and beautiful brinjal fodis today Goan fish thali: Fish curry, tidkeo midkeo bhaji, salad, teesrio, dry prawns kismur, nal kari, pickle, rice and a beautiful piece of kingfish The tamso butter garlic was creamy. The mutton sukka was really good! Like real goat mutton, with plenty of meat and not only bones. Anand Seafood also serves a number of Goan chicken and mutton dishes, the whole range of Goan fish and seafood, and the usual North Indian and Chinese items. Anand Seafood does take UPI payments but, as the menu also notes, there is poor network coverage and we had to try many times, but finally paid through UPI In Goa’s high season, from November to March, the restaurant is packed with people waiting to eat. Come early, like we did, to be sure of a table. Note that like in many Goan restaurants, the thali is available here only at lunchtime. The restaurant is closed on Mondays #goa #4k #goanfood #fishthali #vegthali #anjuna #northgoa
