Hi gang…I heard this song on the radio the other day and just loved it and the story behind it….it seemed an appropriate one to cover as we get to the end of September. It was written by Billie Joe Armstrong from Green day in 2003 ( released 2005 ) and is about the time when he was 10 years old and his father died of cancer. Billie was grief stricken and stayed in his bedroom and told his mother to wake him up when September ends. Years later he wrote this song as a tribute to his Dad. I’m sure many of us have lost a loved one and I’m sure his lyrics will resonate with many. The song became symbolic with the victims of Hurricane Katrina disaster and also dedicated to all the victims of the September 11th Twin Towers attack.
