Sailing my Albin Vega 27 (1789) from Largs to Holyhead via the Isle of Man and the sketchy Calf Sound. With me my friend Dave second time sailing... a baptism of fire for him. West Scotland is a wonderful place to sail, beautiful landscapes and many anchorages, the weather can be quite tough. The North Channel and the Irish Sea are notorious for strong currents, tides and overfalls. A very careful passage planning is needed to take advantage of the tidal streams.
