Hey everyone! Welcome back to Part 2 of our Colors Theme Activities series. This week, we're diving into Week 2 of our colorful journey! If you're working on a Colors Theme, Colors Unit, or Colors Unit Study with your toddlers, preschoolers, prekindergarteners, or kindergarteners, we've got some fun, hands-on, play-based ideas for you. This year is special for us as we’re homeschooling our son for the third year, our oldest daughter for the second year, and for the first time, all three kids: our 2.5-year-old toddler, our 5-year-old kindergartener, and our 13-year-old 8th grader. A quick note: our 2.5-year-old has been joining in on homeschool activities since she was 1. As a result, she's able to stay engaged for longer periods, follow directions, and has developed a pretty good attention span for her age. Remember, these skills took time to develop and every lesson is a unique experience. All the activities we're sharing are part of our 2.5-year-old's toddler "homeschool curriculum" and are inspired by Playing Preschool Year 1's activities and some awesome ideas I found on social media. We’re all about a family-style, play-based approach, so our 5-year-old son joins in on the fun too. I like to let the kids lead and follow their flow, even with a structured lesson plan in mind. I’m big on communication—narrating what we’re doing and repeating what they say. It helps with their speech, sentence structure, and vocabulary development. Many of these activities are a repeat from when we did similar ones with our son when he was 3.5 years old, so I’m excited to see how they go this time around!
