Some academics believe that the best way to improve education is to pay the teachers according to how much their students learn. Others feel that teachers are doing a good job and that is not necessary. I believe that paying teachers according to how much their students learn is the best way to improve education and the willingness of professors to make sure their students are improving. First, it is important to point out that there are a lot of teachers that do not care about their student’s abilities or difficulties, but only about their salary. As a result, a lot of educators just go to the class, teach their subject and leave, without making sure of answering any student’s doubt. For example, in Brazil, the public educational system suffers from a lot of this type of educators: they go to class, sometimes don’t even teach what they must, and still get paid with the salary from the money invested in education. Therefore, I think that if their salaries are readjusted according to their student’s learning, the teachers would care more about helping their students. Secondly, this option can also be helpful for teachers. Drawing from my own experience, many educators do not receive the salary that they work worth. I remember when I was in 11 grade and I found one of my teachers crying in the bathroom, when I asked her how she was feeling, she said that she was worried because she didn’t have the money to pay her father surgery. She was an excellent teacher, always worried about her students, and never hesitated to answer my questions. It’s certainly clear that if she received her salary according to how much her students learned, she would be able to pay her finances. In conclusion, I believe that the best way to improve education is to pay the teachers according to how much their students learn. This is because that would improve the students learning, and also improve the salary of those who deserve it.
