AUTOMATIC EGG INCUBATOR - using and old FRIDGE and ARDUINO to build an automatic system

Hi YouTube! Welcome back! Today, I'm excited to present my AUTOMATIC EGG INCUBATOR project. I've repurposed an old fridge and integrated it with an Arduino Uno WiFi board to control the system. There are three main aspects I considered while building this automatic machine: Temperature control Egg turning Humidity control (still working on it) Temperature Control Temperature is monitored using three DS18B20 Arduino temperature sensors, strategically placed inside the incubator. Three fans ensure even heat distribution. The incubator heats up using an ON/OFF control, following a hysteresis cycle for stability. Egg Turning Turning the eggs is crucial to prevent the chicks from sticking to the eggshells. I designed a 4-bar linkage mechanism to rotate the eggs 90° in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions once every hour. A stepper motor, coupled with a speed reducer made from pulleys and timing belts, drives this system. Humidity Control Currently, humidity is manually maintained by refilling water basins at the bottom of the incubator. I'm using a DHT22 Arduino sensor to monitor humidity levels, aiming for 35%-45% for chicken eggs. For ducks and geese, which require higher humidity, the fridge’s plastic construction is ideal as it's designed to handle water. Future Developments For the next version, I plan to include: Raspberry Pi + Arduino Integration: This will provide a new interface for plotting temperatures and creating graphs, storing data, and performing statistical analysis. It will also allow for manual controls. Automatic Humidity Control: I'll implement a pneumatic water nebulizer (similar to those used in aerosol devices) to inject water vapor into the incubator more effectively. This system will require a nebulizer, an electro-valve, and some pneumatic components. Watch the video to see the incubator in action and support me in future projects! Thank you for watching! Filippo
