The Smothers Brothers Show (September 17, 1965)

Before their comedy hour, the Smothers brothers starred in this CBS sitcom that ran for one season of 32 episodes. It was the CBS network's final sitcom produced in black and white. Dick Smothers played himself in the series as a young executive at Pandora Publications. Brother Tom, who had been lost at sea two years prior, works as an angel doing good deeds on Earth in order to earn his wings. Tom's good deeds usually ended up being a mess, and Dick had to bail him out of jams. The first episode, "There's Something About a Sailor", sets up the premise of the series. The series also starred Roland Winters as Dick's boss, Leonard J. Costello.
