OFFSHORE Crappie Where Big Fish Hide (Find Slabs Deep in Lakes)

I’m hunting for crappie in offshore structures where no one fishes and they’re abundant and grow massive in the fall when they’re chasing shad. In this video, I explain from the beginning how I locate the crappie on structure using my electronics. First, I always look for the thermocline so I know at what depth I can best locate the feeding fish. Then I start graphing with my Side Scan to locate trees and structure like rock piles or ledges. I can look at a broad swath of an area using the new 360 degree technology to look all around my boat. Once I find good structure, I’ll start using my live Active Target to pinpoint exactly where the structure is and see if there are any fish hiding. You can see the fish grouped up and moving and from their formation, I can often delineate if they’re crappie, perch or bass or maybe another species. With the Active Target, I can see everything, even fish attacking my jig. Watching how the fish respond is incredibly useful even if they don’t bite. Because now you know they’re interested but you need to change the action or change the lure to trigger the bite. Watch the video to the end as I show everything on how to find the crappies.
