Welcome to the eleventh of the 44 SHE LEADS video profiles for 2024. Lisha Sablan from Samoa is an extraordinary leader and designer. She heads the design for Janet’s brands, including Ali’i, Ngalu, Teropika, Masina Blue, and Love Pacific, which are part of her family’s business. Founded by her parents, Janet and William Sablan, in 1989, the company has grown to six stores across Samoa and an online presence through www.janetssamoa.com. Lisha manages design while her brother, Christopher, oversees marketing. Lisha emphasizes the importance of expanding oneself through learning and experiences, shaped by her family’s values of hard work, sacrifice, and discipline. She believes that work-life balance doesn’t exist when running a family business, and starting a business impacts the whole family, as she experienced firsthand. As a mother and businesswoman, Leisha stresses the need for discipline, time management, and prioritizing family. She encourages young women interested in business to adopt a leadership mindset over the “boss” persona and be prepared to face challenges. Lisha was interviewed as part of the SHE LEADS project by Pacific Trade Invest NZ, where innovative women across the Blue Pacific share their inspiring stories. Forty-four individual video interviews have been made in 2024, in the Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Samoa, and Tonga. The videos will be released weekly, online and worldwide, via various social media platforms.
