The Koshi River, also known as the Saptakoshi, is one of the major rivers in Nepal and northern India. Its originate from the Himalayas Tibet, close to China Nepal border. At the origin, numerous small ice melt streams and mountain streams joins the river Koshi. Basically, the Koshi River is formed by the confluence of seven rivers. Those are: the Sun Kosi, Indravati, Bhote Kosi, Dudh Kosi, Arun, Tamur, and Likhu Rivers. These tributaries combine to form the Sapta Kosi or "Seven Rivers". The Koshi River is a significant transboundary river with unique characteristics that impact both China, Nepal and India.
