Coach Brandon Martorano is a SF Giants prospect and breaks down his drills and technique to receive the inside pitch as a catcher. There are a few ways to help your catchers receive the ball on their glove side properly. Once we call a pitch on the inside corner to a right handed hitter, we want to try to set up so we split the inside cover of the plate with our body. Our catchers should be able to draw a straight line from the corner of the plate to the middle of our body. Try not to drive the elbow outside on misses to our left. In this case, the pitch will be called a ball anyway so we need to turn our glove and catch the baseball. In our set-up, we want to relax the glove on our left side to work our glove back towards the inside corner of the plate.
