Looming more than 1,000 feet over the Black Hills in Wyoming, Devils Tower, as it is called in the modern day, is recognizable for its unique shape and its claw mark-like striations that run up and down its surface on all sides. This incredible feat of nature did not go unnoticed by the indigenous peoples who have inhabited the area. Dozens of stories from a multitude of cultures have centered around the creation of Devils Tower, and many of them involve the presence of a gigantic grizzly bear with a vast appetite.
