In this segment, we take a look at cut bait fishing for striped bass, and specifically how striped bass sometimes react to frozen cut bait. The type of cut bait used in this video is 4 week old frozen mackerel. The cut bait was definitely not fresh by any means. Striped bass will eat frozen cut bait, but you are much better off using fresh cut bait when fishing for striped bass. You'll see in this video how stripers often investigate and even smell the bait before biting. Stripers can definitely be very particular and finicky creatures! To increase your chances, be certain to use the freshest cut bait possible when fishing for stripers. I've had much better luck using cut mackerel that I caught earlier in the day, contrasted to the frozen stuff.
