Return Air Plenum Fabrication for Electric Furnace

Basic shop fab of a return air box for an electric air handler that has a built in slant, horizontal or inverted A coil is highlighted in the video. A fairly detailed description of the process as it is being formed is provided in real time. Conventional, but last generation, tools are used in the fabrication process. No CNC tables or powered brakes or powered shears are used in the formation of the plenum components. This is the same basic R/A box in a fairly recent video with nothing but minor changes, and the physical size is smaller. A few tips are given during the process...tips that may ease the burden of struggle during fabrication as well as during field or shop assembly of the fitting. There are many variations to the process so you must remember this is just one and not necessarily the best for any circumstance other than this particular one. A real wild one will be tagged at the end of the video. It is Part 2 Heat Pump Attic Installation. Its NOTHING simple like this one today. Tasteful fast forwarding is utilized during boring or repetitive portions of the layout and subsequent assembly. An attempt is made to balance the need for lessening the length of the video, but still provide needed footage to allow a person to easily follow along to visualize as the fitting comes to life. So being mindful that there are about as many variations of technique as there are mechanics, you may or may not find anything useful.....but if you do, add it to your repertoire and utilize it for yourself and whoever the person is you are working for. You are encouraged to improve upon whatever you find in the video that will help your process. I have been assembling my shop little at a time since the mid to late 70's because I always tried to do a better job than the ones I would see that had been installed by others. The only way to do better was to add to the tools little by little. Enjoy...and hopefully you will find something useful during the viewing.
