The Z1 Tram and Z2 Tram were delivered for the Melbourne Metropolitan Tramways Board between 1975 and 1979. They were the first modern looking tram to be built for Melbourne at the Comeng Factory in Dandenong and the tram had a distinctive whine in the traction that would distinguish itself from other trams right up untlil the day of withdrawl. The first 15 were built for route 96 and the fleet gradually made it's way around many parts of the network. The tram class ended it's operating life from Malvern and Glenhuntly Tram Depot and was a regular sight along St Kilda Road where most of the Malvern and Glenhuntly services ran. The Z1 and Z2 trams were withdrawn from service in April 2016. This presentation is a compilation of the last few weeks in service including line side views, driver views and Malvern and Glenhuntly Depot Views.
